Intel has canceled its new flagship. And very good

According to the latest information from two different sources, Intel Core Ultra 9 290K Plus will not hit the market. However, it must be remembered that the Blues have never officially announced the series Core Ultra 200S Plus. Formally, it is difficult to talk about deleting a product that has never been publicly announced.

Intel Arrow Lake Refresh only in the Core Ultra 7 and 5 segment

The decision is surprising because preparations for the premiere were at an advanced stage. Processor samples were even sent to manufacturers of motherboards and computer sets, and the model itself appeared in leaks. This suggests that the project was real and not just a concept on paper.

According to information provided to partners, Intel explains the change in strategy with greater emphasis on profitability and sensible segmentation. Cheaper models are to remain in current plans Core Ultra 7 270K Plus and Core Ultra 5 250K Plusthat will fill the upper and middle part of the offer without excessive duplication of specifications.

According to previous information, Intel Core Ultra 9 290K Plus was supposed to offer 24 cores and 24 threads with timing up to 5.8 GHz. In other words, it would be the already known and available Core Ultra 9 285K, but with 100 MHz more and support for faster RAM (up to 7200 instead of 6400 MT / s). So it wouldn’t bring a big performance boost like we saw with the AMD Ryzen 7 9850X3D.

There is some consolation in the fact that Intel Arrow Lake Refresh will maintain the current MSRP. However, please note that these are the last steps of the LGA 1851 platform – the series will appear at the end of the year Intel Nova Lake and socket motherboards LGA 1954. It is expected to bring much more groundbreaking changes – new architectures, new lithography and up to 52 cores.
