Intel Core Ultra 5 225F in the first tests. Feeling unsatisfied
Intel’s cheap next-generation processor has already been tested. It is noticeably better, but not enough to justify buying a whole new platform.

Processors debuted on the market almost exactly a month ago Intel Core Ultra 200Salso known as family Arrow Lake-S. New architectures such as Lion Cove and Skymontfull modular structure and lithographs from TSMCincluding the 3 nm process, resulted in a huge drop in power consumption and temperatures.
Intel Core Ultra 5 225F offers a performance jump of up to 17%
To start with, we got the most efficient, but also the most expensive, CPUs for enthusiasts, i.e. the -K and -KF series. Many people are still waiting for more affordable, locked layouts scheduled to appear at the beginning of next year. It so happens that the test of one of the models has already been found in the results database Geekbench.
Intel Core Ultra 5 225F it’s a proposition 10-corewhich uses a configuration of 6 high-performance P-type cores and 4 energy-saving E-type cores. We are dealing here with a base clock of 3.3 GHz and up to 4.9 GHz in Turbo mode. All without the integrated graphics system (iGPU) and with the declared one TDP of 65 W.
The Geekbench program rates this processor at 2,653 points for single-threaded performance and 13,028 points for multi-threaded tasks. That’s it approximately 11% and 17% better than Intel Core i5-14400a processor with almost identical specifications from the previous generation.
Is that not enough? NO. However, you need to remember two things. First of all, Intel Core Ultra 200S uses a new platform, which requires changing the motherboard to one with a socket LGA 1851. This type of efficiency increase is not necessarily a good argument for it.
Secondly Although benchmarks are convenient to use, they do not always translate best to everyday PC use. We mean, of course, games that Intel Arrow Lake-S sometimes handle worse than older systems from the Raptor Lake and Raptor Lake Refresh families.
To sum up, it is worth waiting until the fair to make final conclusions CES 2025 in Las Vegas (USA) in early January. This is when the new processors will be officially presented, and we should get the first ones shortly thereafter comprehensive and independent reviews.
