A well-known bank will remove cards from customers’ phones. You have until June 15
Citi Handlowy is preparing to change the regulations for using payment cards in Google Pay. The bank will be able to remove the card from this service if the customer does not fulfill the new obligation.
Citi Handlowy sends information about changes to its customers Regulations on the use of payment cards of Bank Handlowy w Warszawie SA as part of the Google Pay service. The new version of this document that will become effective May 21, 2024introduces an additional step in the card registration process in Google Pay. It will consist in: confirming that the card has been added to your Google wallet via Citibank Online or Citi Mobile. The bank’s client will be able to afford it Three days.
Registration of the Card in Google Pay via the Google Pay application takes place after performing the following activities:
a) entering the required Card data into the Google Pay application,
b) the User has read and accepted the Regulations,
c) the User enters the authentication code in the Google Pay application received in an SMS text message to the mobile phone number registered with the Bank or – at the User’s choice – during a conversation with a Citiphone advisor,
d) confirmation of adding the Card to the Google Pay application via Citibank Online or Citi Mobile within 3 days from the date of entering the authentication code by the User in the Wallet application, in accordance with the process described in point c).

If a Citi Handlowy bank customer does not confirm within three days that his or her payment card has been added to the Google Pay service, the card will be removed from wallet and you will not be able to use it as part of this solution. It’s going to happen on the next business day falling after the three calendar days indicated above.
What about cards already added?
The correspondence sent to Handlowy’s customers also included information regarding payment cards that were added to the Google Pay service before the amended regulations came into force. It turns out that adding them to the wallet you will also need to confirm further. There will be time for this until mid-June this year.
If your card was added to the Google Pay electronic wallet before May 21, 2024 and you want the token assigned to your card to be still active, confirm it in Citibank Online or Citi Mobile by June 15, 2024. Failure to confirm within the indicated deadline will result in removal of the card from the Google Pay electronic wallet as of June 16, 2024.
