Recently, President Karol Nawrocki signed an amendment to the regulations on sick leave and ZUS jurisprudence. Some of the changes will come into force soon. Others will come into force only 3 months after the announcement. However, the biggest revolution will take place on January 1, 2027.

What will change? First of all, ZUS will be able to control people on sick leave more effectively. Under the new regulations, officials will be able to enter a home, identify the person being inspected, and obtain information from the employer and doctor. Importantly, the inspection may also cover people who take leave for a sick child.

In addition, the amendment also specifies what activities we can perform while on sick leave. This has often been a topic of discussion until now. The new regulations still maintain that we will lose the right to sickness benefit if we perform paid work during the period of leave.

Additionally, they specify that We will also lose the right to benefits if we take action that prolongs or hinders recovery. The idea is to prevent ZUS from clinging to everyday activities that we necessarily have to perform. This applies to everyday activities such as walking the dog or shopping, as long as they do not interfere with treatment. The same goes for a visit to the doctor or pharmacy. However, going on holiday is a different matter.

Finally, people employed in two places will be able to receive L4 valid only in one of them. This will allow you to perform work for the other entity.

This will apply, for example, to a situation in which the insured person is employed by two employers: one under an employment contract and the other under a mandate contract, and when he is unable to work for one employer, he will be able to work for the other employer due to the nature of the work.
