They spend 660 billion on technology development. Nvidia boss: it’s worth it

Growing investments, growing doubts

The AI craze is gaining new momentum, and the largest players are competing with each other to see who will spend more on related infrastructure. The amount of spending for these purposes reached $660 billion – well beyond the wildest forecasts – and many people saw red flags. However, Jensen Huang doesn’t think this is an unjustified bubble.

“The demand is huge – and it is not without reason. We are in the middle of a once-in-a-generation boom. Over the last few years, AI has gone from a curiosity to a tool of enormous utility. With this, a breakthrough moment has appeared – we finally have profitable models. Anthropic is making great money. OpenAI is making great money.” – said the head of Nvidia.

However, many experts approach these investments with caution. Although the head of Nvidia assures that Big Tech’s spending is “balanced”, critics compare the current situation to the “dark fiber” theory from the times of the dot-com bubble – a technology that was supposed to change everything, but remained unused for years. Ultimately, it is the pace of AI adoption by mass users that will determine whether these billion-dollar investments will actually pay off.

On the other hand, the AI implementation layer is developing at a breakneck pace. In just a few months, projects such as Lovable, Vercel and OpenClaw have appeared, which use agent environments to create impressive products. Brad Gerstner, creator of the BG2 podcast, believes that Amazon, Meta, Google and Microsoft are looking for a “golden vein” for our times – and that investors who turn away from AI may miss a moment similar to the cloud revolution.
