Smartphones with physical fans are already well known on the market, and this is especially the case Redmagic gaming series, where a small “fan” is placed next to the cameras. The premise is simple – an extensive air cooling system allows you to squeeze full power from your smartphone without thermal throttling. However, Huawei’s idea is something completely different.

18 thousand revolutions per minute

At first glance, the new Fan Edition variant (also known as Wind Edition) resembles the standard Mate 80 Pro Max, but the most important change is in the camera module. There is an island with lenses clearly elevatedand upon closer inspection you can see it there ventilation holes – air inlets and outlets. They have been integrated in such a way as to ensure the most effective air circulation inside the device.

Reports indicate that the heart of the new cooling system is miniature magnetic turbinecapable of speeding up to 18,000 revolutions per minute. Thanks to the use of a magnetic field the rotor is suspended in the airwhich completely eliminates friction and guarantees high work culture with maximum efficiency.

Details of Huawei’s new solution are not yet known, but Chinese sources indicate that placing the fan directly behind the photo module has a dual purpose. First of all, the turbine cools the Kirin 9030 Pro z system cores overclocked to 3.0 GHzwhich ensures greater efficiency. Secondly, the camera matrices themselves are cooled. This means you can record long videos in high resolution without the risk of interruption due to overheating of the sensors.

Unfortunately, physics is inexorable and space had to be made for such an advanced mechanism. Compared to the standard Pro Max model (equipped with four cameras), the Fan Edition version has remained without a super-telephoto lens offering an optical zoom of 6.2x. The remaining specifications, including display parameters and battery capacity, will most likely remain unchanged.
