Alior Bank warns against attacks on Poles’ money
The bank wants the best for its customers and out of concern for their safety, it has issued a fresh announcement on its website. This time, it is aimed at people using Android devices. Alior warns against the activities of fraudsters who have been attacking unsuspecting citizens for some time now.
Request to install the application – ignore it immediately
Scammers ask users of Android devices to download the application. It’s about malware that will wipe out someone else’s bank account to zero.
Remember! Never disable or bypass security features that are enabled by default on your phone. Only a scammer will ask you to disable security – he will do this so that his scam can be successful.
The bank lists the situations when this type of fraud most often occurs:
- When you sell a product on an auction site. The scammer pretends to be a buyer and asks you to install an app to complete the payment.
- When you answer the phone and someone introduces themselves as an employee of a bank or other institution, explaining that they need to secure the account.
- When your friend’s account gets hacked and their Messenger is taken over by a fraudster.
- When you use an online store and the prices are more than bargain.
Regardless of the icons, application names or justification given – do not download the application. This is what can then control your phone.
It is worth realizing that criminals have started using very credible names of proposed applications, which suggest a legal source of origin. e.g. “Alior Security Key”. Don’t install anything a stranger sends you. The bank’s application is only available in official stores such as the Google Play Store.
Another large bank, mBank, also informs about a similar threat on its website. The “mBank Security Key” works in a similar way and was designed only to clear customer accounts.
