Are you counting on cheap gaming? NVIDIA has other plans
If you are waiting for new laptops with GeForce RTX 5000 systems and were aiming for cheaper designs, we have bad news. NVIDIA is planning price increases again.

AMD, Intel and NVIDIA are preparing to release new graphics cards for laptops and desktop computers. These will be series in order Radeon RX 8000, ARC Battlemage and GeForce RTX 5000. Blue’s presentation is scheduled for December, while Red and Green are aiming for CES 2025 in January.
You can forget about cheap gaming laptops
However, interesting information is already coming from the Chinese part of the Internet. On a social media platform Weibo there was an entry from the product manager in Lenovo. The source seems to be verified, as accurate information has already been published in the past – including: o Intel Arrow Lake-HX Refresh or AMD Strix Point and Kraken.
An employee of the Chinese giant claims that NVIDIA does not plan to end the production of GeForce RTX 4050. This is to be the only model of this generation offered in parallel with the GeForce RTX 5000 series. What does this mean? That GeForce RTX 5050 is expected to have a higher price and will not compete with the old model.
What do we know about GeForce RTX 5050? Few. It is assumed that the core is used NVIDIA GB207 and 8 GB of VRAM on a 128-bit data bus. This is a slight jump from the previous 6 GB and 96-bit interface. Moreover, power consumption is to be slightly lower – up to 115 instead of 140 W. Therefore, it should be cooler and quieter.
The information so far indicates that laptops with GeForce RTX 5000 systems will appear on the market in the first quarter of 2025. The official presentation will probably take place in early January during CES 2025 in Las Vegas (USA). Then we will also know the full specification and declared performance.
