A fake prosecutor calls the victim

The fraudsters contacted a 74-year-old resident of Warsaw. The man calling introduced himself as a prosecutor. He informed the woman about the alleged threat to her financial resources. The criminal argued that bank employees were planning to steal.

The interlocutor asked the senior woman for help in catching the perpetrators. The woman believed in this “police” provocation. She went to a bank branch, withdrew her savings and additionally took out a cash loan.

Handing over cash on the street

The procedure lasted for several days. The senior woman left money in the indicated places, and the young girl collected the cash. The total amount of losses exceeded PLN 100,000. The woman also donated foreign currency.

Another visit to the bank ended with the fraud being stopped. Real policemen appeared on the scene. Bank employees also became aware of the situation. Further theft was blocked.

Arrested in Warsaw’s Targówek district

Criminal investigators from Bemowo and the Warsaw Police Headquarters started the search. They quickly established the identity of the person receiving the cash. It turned out to be a 16-year-old girl. The police found her in an apartment in Targówek and arrested her.

The officers checked the teenager’s records. The girl had problems with the law before. The court ordered her to be brought to an educational institution for three months. Now he will be charged with fraud in a family court.

Don’t get robbed!

The police reminds about basic safety rules. State officials never call with information about ongoing operations. They do not request cash to be transferred to third parties or ask for transfers to designated bank accounts.

If you receive such a call, hang up immediately. Then you need to call the emergency number 112. It is also worth contacting your loved ones to verify the story you have heard. Real employees of financial institutions and services never involve citizens in catching criminals using their private money.
