Will Revolut protect you from tax authorities and bailiffs? Let’s find out

Revolut is not in the Ognivo system – and that’s it

The Ognivo system is used for exchange between banks and credit unions and enforcement authorities, such as bailiffs (on behalf of the courts) and administrative officials (on behalf of tax offices). Thanks to it, enforcers can immediately determine where we keep the money and block what is owed to them.

And here the matter is short, the Ognivo system only includes financial institutions based in Poland and therefore the enforcers do not have access to our money accumulated in the Revolut account or other foreign banks. Moreover, formally, court bailiffs can only collect debts from bank accounts kept by banks with their registered office or branch in Poland – the Ministry of Justice tells Business Insider.

What about tax offices? Likewise, although they may try as a last resort

The Ministry of Finance is also hesitant when asked about Revolut accounts. Currently, the funds collected on them are beyond the reach of tax officials. Only after meeting special conditions may the office attempt foreign enforcement.

This is achieved under the provisions of the Act of October 11, 2013, on mutual assistance in recovering taxes, customs duties and other monetary receivables – explains the Ministry of Finance. To sum up, it is possible to contact the Lithuanian administration, but there has not been and will not be such a seizure of funds with one click as on Polish accounts.

Revolut takes no prisoners, it is pushing towards 100 million customers

In September 2025, Revolut announced that it had exceeded the ceiling of 65 million customers, including 12 million in Great Britain and over 5 million in Poland. For Poland, the goal in 2026 is another million, the bank has over 1,100 employees here (out of 10,000 globally).

So we are talking about an institution that has already overtaken Bank Millennium in 4th place on the list of the largest banks in Poland in terms of the number of customers, and is planning to overtake Santander Bank Polska later this year. That’s right, this year Revolut intends to be the third force in Poland and will start looking hungrily at Bank Pekao, second on the list, which is currently used by 7 million Poles.

To be clear, Poles do not choose a bank based in Lithuania only for tax reasons. Revolut offers one of the world’s most modern settlement and trading platforms, with easy access to cryptocurrency trading, commission-free ATM withdrawals around the world, additional free travel insurance (in paid plans) and a whole host of additional services included in its premium plans. From access to NordVPN or Financial Times, through AI tools, access to airport lounges, FastTracks and coworking spaces, and finally even premium Tinder and SIM cards with data transmission.

However, the function that is probably most appreciated by users on a daily basis is the ability to generate a one-time card for online payments for free – a completely new one each time we need to provide card details online. It’s hard to find a higher level of security when shopping online.

The offer also includes the option of personalizing cards

In other words, this bank can be liked even when a bailiff or a tax official is not waiting for us. Currently, airports around the world are almost entirely covered with Revolut advertisements, and while walking around Barcelona I also noticed the first ATMs. Revolut’s primary goal is to become the bank of first choice for customers, and it seems to be achieving this goal better and better.
