AI is not good at this. The topic is still burning and still relevant

We shouldn’t fully trust artificial intelligence yet, especially when it comes to writing guides and guides. Unfortunately, AI guides for mushroom pickers are still very popular in the USA.

It has long been known that artificial intelligence can cause quite a stir. Just remember when one of the search engines advised adding glue to pizza or eating stones. The same thing happened with guides and mushroom atlases. Reports about this type of books written by AI were loud a year ago. Unfortunately, the topic is still relevant. At least when it comes to the United States. Let us remind you that the case became famous when the entire family ended up in hospital with poisoning. It turned out that they had eaten mushrooms that they identified using an atlas purchased on Amazon.

The guide was full of statements like:

Morels are delicious mushrooms that can be eaten from August to the end of summer. Let me know if there’s anything else I can help with.

Taste is a great way to verify whether a mushroom is edible.

After this incident, the book was withdrawn from sale and the seller refunded the buyers’ money.

However, there are still reports that you can easily find many similar atlases written by AI. The biggest problem is that in most cases there is no information that the atlas was written by artificial intelligence. Americans who buy this type of guides are convinced that such guides are supported by the knowledge of real experts. Meanwhile, this is rarely the case.

AI cannot deal with mushrooms, neither in books nor in applications

Mushroom atlases are crying out for the use of AI. This is helped by the fact that attractive and realistic photos of mushrooms can be generated relatively easily. Unfortunately, artificial intelligence is not so good at describing descriptions. The same applies to applications that help identify mushrooms. Australian scientists decided to check the reliability of this type of applications and it turned out that the most reliable one correctly identified only 44% of cases. Also, when it comes to picking mushrooms, we’d better not trust AI.
