Here’s a European smartphone blocking Chinese and American crap

The project, which was launched in December 2025, was a surprising success – in just three months, the company collected 10,000 pre-orders, which means over EUR 5 million in sales. Production of Jolla Phone will start in the second quarter of 2026, and final assembly will take place in Salo, Finland – the same city where the legendary Nokia phones were once made.

Sailfish OS, based on Linux, is today one of four independent mobile platforms, alongside iOS (Apple), Android (Google) and HarmonyOS (Huawei). This is the only fully European solution that does not send user data to Big Tech servers.

The smartphone offers too physical privacy switchallowing you to disconnect the microphone, camera and sensors in one move. Importantly, Jolla Phone also supports Android applications thanks to the technology AppSupport – users can use instant messaging, banking or social networking sites without having to log in to the Google ecosystem.

Technically, Jolla Phone offers a 6.36″ Full HD+ AMOLED screen, MediaTek Dimensity 7100 5G SoC, 8 or 12 GB RAM and 256 GB of memory with the possibility of expanding with a memory card up to 2 TB, Sony 50 Mpix and 13 Mpix cameras (wide angle) and 32 Mpix for selfies, user-replaceable 5500 battery mAh, 4G and 5G connectivity, WiFi 6, fingerprint reader and replaceable back panels of the phone (white, black or orange).

The dimensions of the phone may not be compact yet, but it is still quite a neat smartphone that can hardly be called a big frying pan. The dimensions are 158 x 74 x 9 mm with a weight of 190 grams. The price is set at 649 euros for the 8/256 GB variant, and for an additional 49 euros it can be upgraded to 12/256 GB.
