In 2025, the National Tax Administration (KAS) recorded an increase in findings from inspection activities by as much as 29.1%. compared to 2024. What does this mean? The amount increased from PLN 14.76 billion to PLN 19.05 billion. The number of inspection activities has also increased. The improvement in this respect is 9.4%. year on year, which means an increase from 2.41 million to 2.64 million.

However, the data does not end there. The Treasury also boasted an increase of as much as 46.4%. amounts of findings during customs and tax inspections (from PLN 4.45 to PLN 6.52 billion). Additionally, the sum of payments from such inspections also increased from PLN 1.7 to PLN 2 billion. This happened even though the number of customs and tax inspections itself decreased by 27.4%. In 2024 there were 7,043 of them, and in 2025 there will only be 5,113.

How is this possible? Primarily because the tax office is increasingly using a faster and less painful procedure for taxpayers, i.e. verification activities. There were more than 228 thousand of them. (an increase of 9.6%), which translated into an increase in the resulting amount by over PLN 2.4 billion (an improvement of 28%).

The matters were resolved without initiating a costly customs and tax inspection procedure, only actions were taken to clarify doubts with the taxpayer, resulting in the need to submit a correction.

In addition, the Tax Office also detected a high number of fictitious invoices, as many as 376.8 thousand, compared to 85.2 thousand in the previous year. less (an increase of 29.2%). This is the highest result since 2017. The total amount of fictitious invoices amounted to PLN 10.9 billion.

At the same time, it should be noted that the inspections carried out usually concern retroactive periods and indicate irregularities that occurred in previous years.
