PKO BP with an alert: this is not “normal” news
PKO BP: Anna received “normal” news
To better illustrate the problem, the bank recalls a story about Anna who received a text message. It was short and concise, and looked completely normal to her eyes. But still, whoever sent it focused heavily on time pressure:
Your account requires verification. Do it now or access will be blocked.
Anna, like many other people, was in a hurry and quickly clicked on the attached link. There were no surprises here either – the page to which it was redirected looked familiar, and the colors and layout imitated a standard login page. There was nothing to complain about. At first glance. After entering the login details, an error message appeared. And that was the moment when the data reached the fraudsters. It wasn’t the real bank’s website, but a copy of it, capturing information.
Often, such an SMS is followed by the next step – a phone call from a bank employee asking for BLIK codes. These are just more elements of fraud if something in the login page “doesn’t catch on”.
PKO BP provides basic security rules
PKO Bank Polski reminds you to:
- Protect your data. Do not give your login to anyonepassword, neither authorization codes nor BLIK, card data and PIN.
- Don’t click on links and do not open attachments. SMS messages from the bank do not contain them, and never do.
- Update the system and use an antivirus program. Install them only from authorized stores.
- Do not log in to online banking when using public Wi-Fi network or another person’s device.
- Create complex passwords and use different ones for each account.
- Be careful about what you publish on the Internet – do not share data or photos that show data.
- Log in to the bank only through your account account in the IKO application or enter the address of the iPKO website login page manually. Never via a link from a message.
