NVIDIA delays again. New cards only in 2028
DRAM shortages are hitting the graphics card market more and more strongly, and everything indicates that gamers must prepare for an extremely difficult period. Published information shows that NVIDIA is not planning any premieres this year. Moreover, the Greens are also to limit the production of the current generation, i.e. the GeForce RTX 5000 series.
The consumer segment is becoming secondary for NVIDIA
Until recently, it seemed that the next step would be the GeForce RTX 50 SUPER series, which, according to original assumptions, was to be shown at CES 2026 in January. However, the first reports suggested that the premiere may be postponed to the third quarter of 2026. Currently, there is already talk of 2027, all because of the shortage of GDDR7 chips.
The next generation of cards, currently known as GeForce RTX 6000, is also facing problems. These systems were supposed to debut at the end of 2027, but this schedule is also starting to shake. Currently, the most likely scenario is 2028. This would be a big change, because over the years Jensen Huang has accustomed us to refreshing the GPU offer for gamers almost every year.
This scenario could have a domino effect throughout the PC supply chain. Partners responsible for designing and selling proprietary models would have much less room for maneuver, which would further deepen the market chaos. One key factor is still visible in the background – memory today goes primarily to data centers and AI infrastructure, because that is where the most money is. The consumer segment is falling into the background.
The only new product aimed at regular users that can be expected this year are NVIDIA N1 and N1X chips. This proposal based on the ARM architecture was created in cooperation with MediaTek and promoted in the context of AI PC. However, these are not classic graphics cards for gamers.
