PKO BP complies with the regulations on January 28. Applies to everyone

Our data is more valuable than many people realize. Their leak allows criminals to do a lot, including extorting money from our friends or ourselves.

That’s why it’s so important to take care of proper digital hygiene. Just a few simple rules are enough to significantly minimize the risk of becoming a victim. PKO BP reminds them about them on the occasion of the upcoming European Data Protection Day.

PKO BP warns customers

PKO Bank Polski has published a statement in which it reminds everyone of some of the most important rules to follow on the Internet. Just remember a few simple rules to minimize the risk of data leakage or money being stolen from your account.

The most important of them are:

  • Always check the address of the sender of the message and the website you are visiting.
  • Do not provide your login details, BLIK codes, authorization codes or payment card details to anyone.
  • Read the content of notifications in the banking application and authorization SMSes carefully.
  • If a bank employee calls you, verify his identity in the application. If you don’t have this option, hang up and call the bank’s official hotline.
  • Use strong and different passwords for each account.
  • Use 2-factor authentication wherever possible.
  • Don’t log in to your bank while using public Wi-Fi networks.
  • Remember to regularly update your computer, phone and mobile applications, because the introduced patches often fix security vulnerabilities.

What if we have already been deceived or someone has stolen our data? In such a case you should:

  • Inform your bank as soon as possible and report the matter to the police
  • Change your bank and e-mail passwords.
  • Reserve your PESEL number (it is best to do it now).
  • If you suspect that someone may have stolen your social media or popular messenger account, inform your loved ones about it.
