The God of War series has problems. Several people said goodbye to the project. Amazon and Sony want to go in a different direction.
It’s been almost 2 years since Amazon gave the green light to create a live-action series in the God of War universe. Despite such a long time, work on it is still in its infancy. Moreover, the project took several steps backwards.

Showrunner Rafe Judkins, as well as executive producers Hawk Ostby and Mark Fergus, were to say goodbye to the series. This happened despite the fact that the three created several different scenarios for Kratos’ series adventures. However, Sony Pictures and Amazon MGM Studios did not decide to entrust them with the mission of creating the work. Both companies clearly want to go in different directions.
For this reason, Sony and Amazon want to hire a new group of writers who will start from scratch and re-write the adventures of Kratos and Atreusbecause the series will focus on the Nordic adventures of the God of War. Cory Barlog and Yumi Yang are still attached to the series and serve as executive producers.
There’s no telling what Rafe Judkins, Hawk Ostby and Mark Fergus came up with, but it clearly wasn’t in line with Sony and Amazon’s vision. Both companies already have extensive experience in game adaptation. Sony’s credits include the films Uncharted and Gran Turismo. This year, Amazon released the Fallout series, which was very well received by fans and critics.
