No more mistakes with Google Translate. A powerful new thing is coming
Three versions instead of one
Google Translate has been saving us from trouble for years. Sometimes, however, his suggestions sound stiff or simply do not fit the situation. The Mountain View giant wants to change this using Gemini artificial intelligence. A new “Show alternatives” function has been discovered in the code of the latest version of the Android application.
Instead of one dry result, we will now see several proposals. Each of them will have a slightly different sound. It can be a more polite or completely casual version. This is crucial when talking to the boss or ordering coffee on vacation.
No more confusing male and female forms
Many languages change depending on who we are speaking to. A simple word-for-word translation often loses these details. The new function will allow you to choose whether you are addressing a woman or a man. This will help us avoid awkward situations and misunderstandings.
Users will also have “Ask” and “Understand” buttons at their disposal. The “Understand” button will explain why the app selected specific words. In turn, the “Ask” option will allow you to ask the AI to refine the translation according to our instructions.
Your personal language assistant
Thanks to these changes, Translator is no longer just a dictionary. He becomes a real assistant who teaches us the language in practice. Seeing different versions of the same sentence will help us pick up on the nuances faster. This is a great way to learn how to sound naturally in a foreign language.
Currently, these functions are hidden in the application code. Not everyone can test them on their smartphones yet. However, given the pace of Gemini’s development, its premiere for everyone is only a matter of time. Google clearly wants communication to be natural and barrier-free.
