Don’t let the trolls argue

“Be a conscious Internet user” – reminds the Ministry of Digitization to all Poles using the Internet. Another disinformation campaign of the Ministry of Digitization and NASK has been launched. As part of it, it was published new spot onlinewhich, through troll dialogues, is intended to raise awareness of false content online, educate and draw attention to a pressing problem – verifying information and reporting false content.

We are publishing another spot as part of the campaign about disinformation sensitizing people to false content on the Internet. Causing panic, disrupting society, ridiculing the state – this is what people publishing disinformation strive for. Don’t let yourself fall into their trap: don’t pass it on, check the source, report it at http://nask.pl/dezinfo and be a conscious Internet user.

Disinformation is a social problem

This phenomenon is not new and we have been dealing with it for a long time. It is commonly referred to as “fake news”. This “disinformation” has taken on a completely new dimension in the digital age. The Internet, which was supposed to be a space for free exchange of information, has also become a tool of manipulation, influencing the emotions and views of millions of people.

Disinformation poses a threat to social stability and the democratic order. Although Poles’ awareness of this issue has increased significantly in recent years, the phenomenon itself is evolving, using increasingly advanced manipulation techniques. Therefore, extensive educational activities are needed to help society counteract its effects.

– emphasizes the Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Digital Affairs, Krzysztof Gawkowski.

Trolls are a symbol of danger

By using commonly known symbols and narratives, the campaign is intended to reach a wide audience and help build social resistance to manipulation.

We have finally materialized the authors of the disinformation! Malicious and not very smart individuals now reveal themselves to us in all their glory. We directly used the symbolism assigned to trolls in culture and art – appearance, character. We placed them in a mythical and at the same time modern world – somewhere in the depths of the Internet.

– explains Ireneusz Stankiewicz, Managing Partner of Fabryka Komunikacji Społecznej.

Here’s how to actively counter disinformation:

  • Avoid spreading unverified content;
  • Verify sources of information;
  • Report disinformation at: www.nask.pl/dezinfo

The campaign is carried out in the nationwide media – in the largest television and radio stations, including regional ones, as well as on the Internet and on the own channels of the Ministry of Digitization and NASK. The Social Communication Factory is responsible for the creation and creative concept.
