Norwegia zdominowana przez auta elektryczne. Tesla na szczycie listy

Only a few people take combustion engines. Over 94 percent of cars sold are electric.

Norway can boast another record. In August, electric cars had a 94.3% share of the market there. This is a new world record, analysts calculate.

Norway is ahead of Europe and the whole world

In July this year Electric cars accounted for 12.1% of new cars sold in the European Unionbehind petrol vehicles (33.4%), full hybrids (32%) or even diesel cars (12.6%). Against this background, Norway is a land of electricity and Tesla..

According to the Norwegian Road Federation, electric vehicles accounted for 94.3% of new car registrations in August this year. The largest share in car sales was Tesla Model Y with as much as 18.8% of all cars sold. It was followed by the Hyundai Kona and Nissan Leaf, with much smaller percentages.

In total, 10,480 electric cars were sold in August (only new cars) and 68,435 since the beginning of the year. Although the absolute numbers do not seem large, remember that Norway has just under 5.5 million inhabitants. In other European countries, insufficient infrastructure and high car prices are the brakes. However, there is a growing interest in hybrid cars, which combine the advantages of combustion and electric cars.

Although Norway is a large producer of oil and gas, it does not want to use them itself

Or at least it doesn’t want to use it for road transport. The country has set itself a goal of selling only zero-emission vehicles by 2025. That’s 10 years ahead of the European Union’s target. This is helped by large tax breaks that make electric cars exceptionally attractive in price for Norwegians.

No country in the world comes close to Norway in the electric car race. If this trend continues, we will soon be on track to achieving our goal of 100% zero-emission cars by 2025
