This doesn’t look good. Valve regarding the launch of Steam Machine
To say that Valve isn’t in the greatest of situations when it comes to the hardware department is an understatement. Initially, Steam Machine and Steam Frame were scheduled to debut in early 2026. Then the company postponed the launch to mid-year. However, the latest statement calls into question not so much this date, but the entire calendar.
In the latest announcement, Valve expressed hope that these devices will debut in 2026. This means that the premiere of the devices this calendar year is also questionable. And it’s not particularly strange.
While Steam Deck has been successful in its niche, Valve is not a large electronics manufacturer. And now even they are having trouble purchasing DRAM and NAND chips. Thus, the company has much less leverage when trying to obtain key components that are missing on the market. This is shown by the fact that the Steam Deck has not been on sale for several weeks, despite assurances that it will return soon.
