They sold a fake mObywatel. Thousands of people may have a problem
Officers of the Central Bureau for Combating Cybercrime announced the arrest of four people who sold a fake version of the mObywatel application through popular websites. The detained are 17 and 18 years old.
Fake mObywatel for sale
According to information provided by the police, the procedure lasted a total of 12 months. During this time, over 3,000 people made purchases via the popular website.
The arrests were made in the Masovian, Lesser Poland and Pomeranian voivodeships. A total of 4 people were detained: one 17-year-old and three 18-year-olds. A search was carried out on site and evidence was secured to confirm the illegal sale of the application.
The men were charged with criminal offenses, including counterfeiting the application and selling it online, as well as turning this practice into a permanent source of income (i.e. acts under Article 270 of the Penal Code in connection with Article 65 of the Penal Code). Police surveillance was imposed on the detainees. Computers, telephones and other data carriers were also seized. The investigation is being conducted under the supervision of the Warsaw Praga PoĊudnie District Prosecutor’s Office.
I wonder if the police obtained the data of people who purchased the fake mObywatel application. If so, they may have serious problems.
