Problem with YouTube Music. You pay for Premium and you hear ads

Reddit users report incorrect operation of Google Home and Nest equipment. The speakers play ads before and between YouTube Music songs. This happens despite paying for a Premium subscription. The lack of advertising breaks is the main reason for purchasing this subscription.

The issue affects devices associated with accounts with an active subscription. Some people have been paying it continuously for many years. Restarting devices has no effect. Sponsored materials are still playing from the speakers.

Advertisements are not the only problem reported by the community. Devices do long, thirty-second pauses between songs. Songs often don’t load at all. The equipment may go silent for a long time before an advertisement is broadcast. Meanwhile, the mobile application on phones works properly. This means failure of the home platform itself.

Personalized playlists have also changed. Algorithms replace users’ songs with popular songs from the charts. They don’t match the play history. Additionally, the audio streaming function from the computer has stopped working completely.

One customer reported that the ad played immediately after restarting the device, without first issuing voice commands.

The errors were noticed by Google employees. The official support account posted a response on Reddit. A representative of the Mountain View giant confirmed that there are problems with playing YouTube Music on some Google Home devices.

The reasons for this situation are being investigated. The employee’s post does not directly mention the issue with YouTube Premium ads. However, the answer appeared in a thread devoted exclusively to these faults. We should expect a quick software update on the server side.
