NVIDIA is preparing its own processor. It will compete with Apple
NVIDIA clearly no longer wants to be just a graphics card and data center solutions company. The Greens want to enter the consumer market more strongly. The company is preparing its own system for laptops. This one is supposed to be a competitor to the Apple M series, used in MacBooks.
According to unofficial reports, NVIDIA is working on a proprietary SoCwhich will have an integrated processor, graphics system, and a unit dedicated to AI-related calculations. The computers that will use it will be aimed at the consumer market.
NVIDIA’s goal is to create hardware that will compete with MacBooks and Apple M series systems. The Greens are already reportedly cooperating with the most important laptop manufacturers, including Dell and Lenovo. The goal is to create devices that will not only be efficient, but also energy efficient. One of the most important aspects is long battery life.
A unified architecture can bring many benefits, as can be seen from Apple mentioned in the text. Of course, the problem may be the software, i.e. Windows, which does not provide full control over the hardware as in the case of the Cupertino company. Despite this, NVIDIA’s proposal may be very interesting and will put the Greens on par with AMD, Intel or Qualcomm.
