Netflix dared to give viewers something new. 5 days were enough

It’s fresh on Netflix

Spring itself obliges us to reach for new things. Netflix decided to give viewers something with a Bollywood twist this time. But don’t worry, it’s not a kitschy, colorful, typical dance musical about heartbreak. Although the director is Bollywood’s Antubhuti Kashyap, we are dealing here with a serious and slightly dark psychological thriller. And as it turns out, including such a film in the offer was a real hit. At least, that’s what the viewing figures indicate, just 5 days after the premiere.

And although some people complain that the film failed their expectations and many people say that it is shoddy, there is no doubt about one thing – it is watched. And so much so that within 5 days it was ranked number one, not only in Poland.

“The Accused” number 1 in 21 countries

“The Accused” appeared on the platform on February 27, 2026u. The plot focuses on the fate of a renowned surgeon and gynecologist, Dr. Geetika Sen. Her whole life revolves around work, so her private life is also under constant control. One day, the heroine loses ground – she is accused of inappropriate behavior towards other people, and more specifically, allegations of sexual harassment. At one moment, the reputation that has been built over the years comes into question, and the instant messengers of work friends become red hot. Public opinion is quick to pass judgment. Geetika Sen is forced to initiate an investigation and clear herself of the charges. Will she be able to find the truth and save the marriage?

If this isn’t typical Bollywood, then what are we dealing with?

“The Accused” is a thriller in which, at first glance, not much is happening. A There are no sudden plot twists, but there is tension, which the director builds gradually. However, we have here a substitute for a medical film, a thread with an accusation of molestation, and spreading hate on social media. There is one more characteristic of this particular production – the entire action is shown from the perspective of the torturer, not her “victims”. And this is not typical for Indian cinema.

As you can see, Netflix viewers appreciate cinema that does not provide clear answers and, on the contrary, gives food for thought long after the screening. And although viewership is one thing, and the reviews of the film will certainly be very divided, it is nice that the platform provides a variety of film repertoire. And viewers are open enough to watch new things.

Bollywood fans will also appreciate the film’s cast, which probably won’t say much to those who don’t watch films from this series.
