YouTube has provided creators with an interesting feature that allows them to reach a new audience. We’re talking about automatic translations. But it’s not about the subtitles. YouTube will automatically generate the YouTuber’s voice in other languages.
YouTube with automatic dubbing
YouTube will automatically create dubbed versions of the videos. Artificial intelligence will translate the materials itself and then add sound using the voice of the person on the material. Currently, the function supports 9 languages: English, French, German, Spanish, Japanese, Portuguese, Italian, Indonesian and Hindi.
YouTube argues that thanks to the Internet, creators will be able to reach a new group of audiences. There is something to it, because very few Spaniards have watched German or Japanese creators. Of course, it was possible to add subtitles in different language versions, but it was time-consuming and not everyone likes this form of translation. Now they will hear the voice of YouTubers in their native language.
Interestingly, automatic dubbing will only work with newly added films. It cannot be used on already published materials. Pity. Of course, creators will have the opportunity to listen to the translated material and turn off a given language version. There is no Polish language on the list, but for many people a translation into English will be sufficient. Moreover, we can hope that the list of languages will be expanded over time.
