ING surprises. This is the first such offer in the country
ING Bank Śląski has launched Google Pay for children aged 6 to 12. Thanks to this, they can pay contactless by phone using a prepaid Mastercard added to Google Wallet. This is the first offer of this type in Poland for such a young group, replacing our own card payment solution on the phone for juniors, which was withdrawn in June 2026.
Google Pay for kids
The parent starts the service in the Moje ING application by entering the details of the child’s prepaid Mastercard card and enabling Google Pay. Then the child logs in to the junior version of Moje ING on his or her phone and adds the card to Google Wallet. After this, the parent confirms consent in his My ING and Family Link.
The child can pay contactless in stores and withdraw cash from ATMs (according to the limits set by the parent). Interestingly, this may require you to enter your card PIN regardless of the amount, as long as it unlocks your phone (PIN, fingerprint or face scan).
Payments via the Internet or mobile applications are blocked – the card will not allow such transactions for security reasons. The parent also has full control over the child’s purchases: sets limits, blocks/unblocks the card, tracks expenses and manages consents. It is also worth emphasizing that additional parental confirmation is required for children with a Family Link account.
The service is free (apart from standard ATM withdrawal fees). ING emphasizes that 80 percent children get their first smartphone before their 10th birthday, so the offer is intended to teach digital finances in a controlled way.
