Green roosters in private cars will go to the President’s desk
Only members of the Volunteer Fire Department will be able to use this solution. Green roosters will be able to be found in their private cars. However, their use will be limited only to situations in which members of the Volunteer Fire Department receive a call to the fire station in connection with a firefighting operation.
The preliminary design has already been approved by the Ministry of Interior and Administration. However, as its authors admit, it still requires some refinements, which will be given to it by the Sejm. It will then be sent to the president’s desk. There is a good chance that this will happen before the holidays. Third Way MPs are behind this initiative. As emphasized by Bartosz Romowicz, chairman of the parliamentary standing subcommittee for the development and promotion of volunteer fire brigades:
We want to speed up, facilitate and improve the access of crews to rescue operations. Perhaps this project is not important for small towns, where there are no traffic jams, where the development is less compact, but it is of great importance for large towns, for the donuts of large towns, for example Góra Kalwaria, where there are regular traffic jams and volunteer firefighters have to stand in traffic jams to get to the fire station when called. And the goal is for other drivers to have a clear signal: listen, I’m driving in this car to help someone, to save a life. If you can, please let me through. Let me in at the crossroads, let me out of the minor road. Don’t honk at me for trying to get somewhere faster or shorter. But on the other hand, it must be clearly stated that this provision will not be a decent violation of the law.
Of course, there are penalties for using the green signal outside of emergency situations, although what they are has not been announced yet. Additionally, each volunteer will have to buy a signal for their car. This means that they will be extremely diverse. The key thing, however, is that they emit a flashing green light.
