Dell is laying off thousands of people. Artificial intelligence is supposed to be the solution
The well-known American computer and server manufacturer is undergoing restructuring. Dell has laid off as many as 10% of its employees and is changing its corporate policy.
Enthusiasts following the new technology market are well aware that the situation has not been looking good in the last few days. Dell will focus on artificial intelligence and servers
As Bloomberg reports, Dell has decided to make another wave of layoffs. The company confirmed this information, but did not reveal the exact numbers. Some American sources, however, report that about 12,500 people. The teams responsible for sales and marketing were hit the hardest.
This is not the first such case in the last 15 months, 13,000 people have already been laid off. As of February, Dell had 120,000 employees, which means that it has now shed about 10% of its workforce. Workers who have survived are calling the situation “bloodbath”.
The new policy of the American giant is to focus on artificial intelligence and a change in the approach to selling servers for data centers. So currently the most profitable branch of the world of new technologies, as confirmed by the success of NVIDIA, whose AI accelerators are sought by all companies on the market.
Finally, it is worth recalling that Intel decided to take equally drastic steps. The Blues have severely limited investments in new plants and offices, and have additionally laid off over 17,000 people. All because the company’s value on the stock exchange has fallen by as much as 20%, or over $24 billion.
