Apple with more records. iPhones are selling great

iPhone is Apple’s most important product

The American giant’s revenues increased by 16% compared to the same period last year. The smartphone segment has the largest share in this result. iPhone sales generated $85.3 billion (PLN 301 billion), which is a significant increase compared to $69.1 billion a year earlier (+23%).

The services department also recorded improved results. Revenues from this amounted to USD 30 billion (PLN 106 billion). This represents an increase of 14% year on year. Apple’s boss commented on these achievements in an official announcement.

Today, Apple is proud to announce an extraordinary record quarter with revenue of $143.8 billion, up 16 percent year-over-year and significantly exceeding our expectations. iPhone had its best quarter ever, driven by unprecedented demand, breaking all-time records in every geographic segment, and services also achieved an all-time record in revenue, growing 14 percent year-over-year. We’re also excited to announce that our installed base now stands at over 2.5 billion active devices, a testament to incredible customer satisfaction with the world’s best products and services.

Net profit and dividend to shareholders

The Cupertino-based company generated a net profit of USD 42.1 billion (PLN 149 billion, +16% year on year). Profit per share amounted to USD 2.84 (PLN 10), which means an increase of 18% year-on-year.

The company’s financial director commented on cash flows. Kevan Parekh noted that the strong results allowed the return of capital to investors.

In the December quarter, our record business performance and strong margins led to EPS growth of 19 percent, setting a new all-time record for EPS. This exceptionally strong performance generated nearly $54 billion in operating cash flow, enabling us to return nearly $32 billion to shareholders.

These guns fared a little worse

Not all departments recorded increases. Mac sales dropped from $9 billion to $8.4 billion (PLN 30 billion, -7% year-on-year). A similar trend can be seen in the “Wearable devices, home and accessories” category, where revenues decreased from USD 11.7 billion to USD 11.5 billion (PLN 42 billion, -2%). However, sales of iPads increased, reaching the level of USD 8.6 billion (PLN 30 billion, +6%).
