Account blocking is a big problem. But you won’t turn her away this way
Now this is an email sent on behalf of OLX
E-mails from fraudsters impersonating the OLX platform seem endless. The one about a blocked account has already become a classic scam. And yet, there are still people who fall for this type of practice. Therefore, it is worth presenting the scheme of operation of fraudsters, which is really very simple.
Update your profile and restore access
A message arrives in our inbox which, at first glance, looks like it comes from OLX. There is nothing missing there, there is a nice graphic design, website logo and all the necessary data. The content also looks professional – it is written in an official manner. The message contains information about the temporary blocking of the account on OLX. To reverse such a block, we are asked to log in to our account and update our data. Oddly enough, the form also requires payment card details. Where to make such an update? We don’t have to think about it. At the end of the email there is a link to click – “update profile and restore access”.
The problem is that this message does not come from OLX, but from scammers. When we enter data, we give it to them as if on a platter.
How to avoid having your money stolen?
If you notice a message with such content, remember to take a few breaths – do not hastily click on any links. Give yourself a moment. Make sure that the sender of the email is actually OLX, check whether the email address is associated with the official domain of the website.
If you find yourself on the linked page, make sure the address corresponds to the original portal site. Don’t enter your details, especially your credit card details.
