Lidl and new rules. You may be surprised in the parking lot in front of the store
Lidl gently wants to force the rotation of vehicles
Typically, customers value unmanned and automatic systems. Also when it comes to parking in front of the store. A keen eye of a motorist will soon notice that the parking meters at some discount stores have disappeared and in their place there is a camera system that measures parking time automatically. The customer doesn’t have to do anything but focus on their purchases. For drivers, this means no more having to keep track of the paper slips they downloaded from the parking machine. No more going back to the car and placing the paper on the dashboard, behind the vehicle window. This too no more treating Lidl as a place for a longer, non-shopping-related stop. When the time is monitored, it is better not to exceed the statutory free parking time (90 minutes).
Exceeding the set time may result in a charge additional fee. Since the parking lots are operated by external companies, the amount of such a fee will be specified in the regulations of a single parking lot. The solution in question is already being tested in some cities, including Lębork.
Instead of downloading tickets, cameras
All this fits into a new trend that is becoming more and more common in most supermarkets. In selected parking lots, there will be a camera system that will automatically read car license plates and measure the parking time. The customer will only have to make sure not to exceed the statutory time of 90 minutes. Otherwise, you will be obliged to pay for additional parking. The Lidl chain of stores is introducing this system gradually, but you can already watch for the change to occur at the Lidl store where we usually shop.
