Poles are too willing to share information about themselves. This facilitates the work of fraudsters who extort record numbers of loans.

In the third quarter of 2024 there was a record number of as much as 3.4 thousand. attempts to extort loans for a total of PLN 81.7 million. To a large extent, this is due to the Poles themselves, who still do not follow the safety rules and are too willing to share their data, e.g. on the Internet – informs Rzeczpospolita.

Fraudsters use various methods of extorting our data. These include various types of phishing attacks in which they impersonate banks, couriers, police and various institutions. They also often call Poles, pretending to be a bank or police officer.

False ads in search engine and social media are also very popular, which promise high profits or lead to false banking sites. There are also fraud for Blik, where cybercriminals pretend to be our friends, asking for a code to pay money from an ATM.

In the following years, even more scams should be expected. The development of artificial intelligence will be a great facilitation for cyber criminalsthanks to which they can impersonate well -known people, financial institutions and even our friends.

That is why continuous education about how to fraudsters and methods are so important, how to protect against them. Among other things, the PESEL number reservation is effectivebecause in this case, if someone even extorts a loan or a loan for our data, then the fault lies completely on the bank’s side. We will not suffer any consequences for this.
