On the contrary – its subsequent uses, which go beyond the mere decorative function, give it even more value. Especially since it is not known how much of it is left. That is why the new source of this metal is even more pleasing, especially for the discoverer. The next one has just been announced in China. The expectations towards these deposits are really high.
The biggest in the world?
According to Chinese state media cited by sciencealert.com, a huge deposit of high-quality gold ore has been discovered in the central part of the country. According to estimates, it contains approximately 1,000 tons of this metal and is valued at USD 83 billion. It is possible that this will be a larger amount of gold than the South Deep mine in South Africa, considered one of the largest in the world.
Currently, the Hunan Provincial Geological Bureau has announced the detection of 40 gold veins at a depth of 2 kilometers in the northeastern Hunan Pingjiang County. This part is supposed to contain about 300 tons of gold, and further deposits are to be found at a depth of 3 kilometers underground. The deposit itself is also of good quality – collected samples showed that each ton of ore can yield up to 138 grams. For comparison, ore extracted from underground mines is considered good if it contains 130 grams of gold less.
