The Browser Choice Alliance was created to draw attention to Microsoft’s unfair practices. The group includes, among others, Opera, Vivaldi, Google, Wavebox and Waterfox. BCA addressed their objections, among others, to the European Commission.

Drama in the world of browsers

BCA draws attention to unfair practices of Microsoft. According to the alliance, the Redmond company uses methods to make it difficult for users to use alternative browsers, thus promoting its solution, Edge. This includes a recent change in Windows settings that makes it more difficult to choose a default browser.

The Alliance also turned to the European Commission, demanding that Microsoft Edge be recognized as the so-called gatekeeper under the Digital Markets Act. If this happened, the Redmond company would be forced to provide wider availability of alternative browsers in Windows.

It is worth noting, however, that the alliance does not include Mozilla Firefox. In turn, Google may be forced by the US government to sell Chrome due to its monopoly on the search engine market, strengthened by having the most popular browser. This may be a tactic to distract from your own problems.
