PKO BP czy Pekao? Bez różnicy. Ryzyko jest tym razem identyczne

PKO BP or Pekao? No difference. The risk is the same this time

Customers of the two largest banks in Poland – PKO BP and Pekao SA – became the target of attacks. A moment of inattention and they can wipe your account.

PKO BP and Pekao SA are the two largest banks in Poland, both in terms of assets held and the number of accounts serviced. No wonder that their customers are often the targets of cybercriminal attacks. This time, CSiRT KNF, the Computer Security Incident Response Team of the Polish financial sector, warns against them.

PKO BP and Pekao SA in the crosshairs

CSiRT KNF once again warns against fake websites that only pretend to be bank websites and may look very similar to real ones. Cybercriminals usually pay great attention to even the smallest details found on such sites. However, one thing will always betray them. Of course, we are talking about a URL address that is different from the real one.

In this case, CSiRT KNF warns, among others, against fake websites of PKO BP and Pekao SA Remember that they are located at pekao24.pl and ipko.pl, respectively. All others are false. In the latest example, these include pekao-pl(.)com and ipkobank(.)pl. In addition, experts also warn against fake BNP Paribas and Santander websites.

Websites created by cybercriminals often resemble the original ones. As part of our series, we present further examples of fake domains used in attacks on electronic banking customers. Protect yourself from losing money and remember to carefully verify the address of the website you are on!

– warns CSiRT KNF in its announcement.

What are the risks of visiting such a site? First of all, they are used to steal our data, including bank login and password. Revealing them may result in loss of money, so such a mistake may prove particularly costly.
