US attacks Iran with AI banned by Trump

Donald Trump ordered all federal agencies immediate discontinuation of use of Anthropic’s technology. He announced the decision in February in a post on the Truth Social platform. The reason is sharp disputes between the creators of artificial intelligence and the Department of War. The president stated that the company tried to force the military to follow its own regulations of service instead of the U.S. Constitution.

According to Trump, such actions threaten national security. The American leader announced severe civil and criminal consequences against the company. Government administration now has six months to withdraw from using Claude series models. This applies in particular to military operations.

A few hours after the presidential ban was published, the United States carried out a… air attack on Iranian territory. A report by “The Wall Street Journal” (WSJ) reveals the course of these events. According to published information, the military operation was supported by Anthropic’s AI tools.

This is not the first time this software has been used in US military operations. Previously, journalists had determined the involvement of the Claude model during the capture of Nicolas Maduro in Venezuela. It will take a long time to remove these systems from the command structure. WSJ journalists report that it will take months.

The Department of Defense is preparing for changes in artificial intelligence providers. The institution has already concluded agreements with other market entities. Military networks will now exploit language models from OpenAI and xAI.

The transition process to the new systems will begin soon. Anthropic must work with the government during this transition period. Otherwise, the president threatens using full power to force the company to obey. Further business relationships between the company and the government were permanently terminated.
