Although the iPhone Fold is coming out this year, many people will be looking forward to the “traditional” iPhone 18 Pro. The main reason for this is the improved camera, which will introduce many improvements.

Already at the end of 2024, there was speculation about its use by Apple variable aperture. Ming Chi-Kuo, a well-known analyst and Apple specialist, announced then that we would probably see it in the iPhone 18. Such an aperture would appear specifically in the iPhone 18 Pro model and replace the wide-angle lens with a fixed focal length of f/1.78. Thanks to the variable aperture we will get greater control over depth of field.

Now these reports have been confirmed again, this time by the Chinese leaker Digital Chat Station, who reported on the Weibo platform that Apple was checking new set of cameras composed of a main lens with a variable aperture and a telephoto lens with a large aperture. For now, it is not known whether this set will be included in both iPhone 18 Pro variants or only in the Pro Max model.

In addition, Apple is expected to refresh telephoto lenswhich currently has an f/2.8 aperture in the iPhone 17 Pro model. Improving this component could translate into better photos in low light conditions. The list of changes ends with the possibility of even tighter focus control in non-portrait photography modes.

It is worth adding that in terms of the camera, the iPhone Fold will be inferior to the iPhone 18 Pro. The foldable model will receive only the main and ultra-wide-angle lenses, without telephoto lensand the variable aperture – according to leaks – will remain a function reserved only for the Pro series. Thus, the iPhone 18 Pro will offer both a more advanced main cameraas well as an improved telephoto lens with a wider aperture.
