They will install Disney+ in droves. The platform will continue the great hit
The series “Testaments” will cause confusion
Dystopian drama, based on bestseller Margaret Atwood’s novel was the biggest hit and phenomenon in the history of recent TV series. It has had six seasons, the last of which debuted on April 8, 2025 on HBO Max. Its main character, played by Elisabeth Moss, was awarded a Golden Globe for her role in the series.
“The Testaments” is nothing more than a continuation of “The Handmaid’s Tale.” The production focuses on a new generation of women, showing the fall of Gilead approximately 15 years after the events of the original series. Recall that the Republic of Gilead was a state where fertile women were forced to father children with the most powerful citizens as part of the Ceremony. Margaret Atwood published her book titled “The Testaments” in 2019, immediately after the third season of “The Handmaid’s Tale” was broadcast.
“Testaments” – what is the new series about?
The series tells the story of two teenagers, Agnes (Chase Infiniti) and Daisy (Lucy Halliday). The first of them was raised in Gilead as an obedient and religious girl, and the second comes from outside the country and this is her first contact with the absurd rules prevailing in this world. The fates of both teenagers will intertwine thanks to their aunt Lydia (Ann Dowd), who is a teacher at an elite school for young girls.
Consistency with the original is rather guaranteed, as Bruce Miller, the showrunner of “The Handmaid’s Tale”, is responsible for the production. This time we will see Chase Infiniti, Lucy Halliday and Ann Down (who will play Aunt Lydia) in the main roles.
“The Testaments” will appear on Disney+ on April 8, 2026. The platform will give viewers three episodes at once, and subsequent episodes will be published weekly.
