What about MMOs in the world of League of Legends? Riot Games breaks the silence
What is happening with the MMO in the world of League of Legends announced three years ago? Riot Games has finally let off steam, but the news is bittersweet.
More than 3 years have passed since the official announcement of the MMO game in the League of Legends world, and we still don’t know anything about it. Recent layoffs at Riot Games and news of its desire to focus on its core games have sparked fear among fans. Many feared that the MMO would end up in the trash. That didn’t happen, but we’ll have to wait for the game.
MMO in the world of League of Legends
Information about the game was revealed by Marc Merill, one of the founders of Riot Games. The news is good on one hand and bad on the other. First of all, work on the MMO is still ongoing and the company is not giving up on this project. Secondly, some of the work was thrown away and work started almost from scratch.
After much thought and discussion, some time ago we decided to reset the direction of the project. This decision was not easy, but necessary. The initial vision just wasn’t different enough from what you can play today. We don’t believe you all want the MMO you played before with a Runeterra shell; to truly do justice to Runeterra’s potential and meet the incredibly high expectations of players around the world, we need to do something that truly feels like a significant evolution for the genre. It’s a huge challenge, but our team of passionate MMO players and game development veterans is extremely motivated to make it happen.

Players can be glad that the game was not trashed and in the future they will have the opportunity to play an MMO in the world of Runeterra. However, we will have to wait for the premiere. We are probably talking about years of work before we see the final effect. I guess we won’t hear any new news anytime soon. We have no choice but to be patient.
