Thermal Grizzly has something for the biggest enthusiasts. It’s about AMD
Thermal Grizzly once again raises the bar for the biggest PC enthusiasts. The German company, which started selling demolition Ryzen 7 9800X3D processors a year ago, is now adding a newer and more efficient model to its offer – Ryzen 7 9850X3D. What are we actually buying? CPU without IHS, i.e. metal heat sink.
This isn’t cheap fun. We are talking about a price of PLN 3,169
At first glance, the idea seems extravagant. After all, we are talking about a top gaming processor that someone is deliberately depriving of its “hat”. In practice, however, it makes sense for a narrow but very demanding group of users. This allows for direct cooling of the silicon core, which means even -13°C better temperatures.
The set includes not only the processor, but also a removed IHS, a pendrive with the test protocol and results dump, and a microscopic photo of the exposed core. The whole thing is complemented by a card with information about the deliding results. This is a product addressed to enthusiasts who expect full transparency and confirmation of the quality of the modification made.
What about the warranty? Of course, we lose the manufacturer’s information and Thermal Grizzly takes over the responsibility. Germany gives a 24-month protection period. For the first year, the company declares that it will cover almost every failure, as long as it does not result from mechanical damage on the user’s side.
And what does it look like in terms of pricing? It’s definitely not cheap. We are talking about 749 euros, or approximately PLN 3,169. For comparison, the same processor in stores costs PLN 2,139 in Poland. However, considering the complicated process and the very high failure rate of the Ryzen 9000X3D series, it is hardly surprising that Thermal Grizzly is trying to protect itself.
