From March 30, drivers will have to be more careful and take the new rules to heart. And the amendment to the regulations clearly places greater responsibility on the part of drivers. Those who blatantly violate traffic rules will have no reason to laugh at all. The police will have a legal basis to draw consequences for their irresponsible behavior.
From March 30, new rules will come into force, based on which officers will be able to stop your driving license on the spot for maneuvers that until now, in most cases, only resulted in a fine. They will be able to detain them for 3 months and impose a penalty on the offender in the form of penalty points.
The purpose of the changes introduced is to put an end to illegal racing. Due to this procedure, which is still popular in many cities, the penalties allowed in Art. 102 of the Act on vehicle drivers.
What’s with the penalty points for drifting?
There are 12 penalty points for using a vehicle in a way that endangers safety. Also for causing a risk to road traffic as a result of the so-called drifting or losing contact with the surface of at least one wheel, or to put it simply – driving on the rear wheel, the driver may be punished with this number of points. There are 10 penalty points for just drifting or riding on the rear wheel. If a collision occurs during such stunts, the policeman may give you 12 penalty points due to the risk to road safety caused.
Therefore, if the police catch someone during an illegal race, he or she may receive as many as 22 penalty points at once. It is worth recalling here that the point limit beyond which a driver loses his driving license is 24 points, and in the case of drivers who have had a driving license for less than a year – 20 points.
