Protection against threats

On Tuesday, March 10, 2026, the government adopted a new one Cybersecurity Strategy of the Republic of Poland. This document defines the state’s activities for the coming years, until 2029. The main goal is better protection of citizens, companies and offices. The new regulations are also intended to strengthen the National Cybersecurity System.

Cybercrime is constantly increasing. There are hacker groups linked to foreign countries operating on the Internet. These threats affect the everyday life of Poles. They concern the privacy and data security of all network users.

Position of the Ministry of Digital Affairs

Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Digitization Krzysztof Gawkowski reminds about the need to defend the Polish network.

In the era of growing aggression in cyberspace, we must act decisively, because security on the Internet is our common cause and the Polish raison d’état. The Strategy adopted today is our key document setting out the directions of action until 2029. We are building a digitally resilient country – we are developing national technologies, strengthening cooperation between institutions responsible for cybersecurity and combating cybercrime more effectively.

The plan assumes close cooperation between various ministries and services. The document sets strategic goals for the entire country. The act also includes a detailed list of operational activities. It will be the main guide for the authorities protecting the Polish Internet.

New institutions and procedures

Deputy Minister of Digital Affairs Paweł Olszewski indicates the need to have appropriate procedures.

Adopting the Cybersecurity Strategy is an important step in building a secure and digitally resilient Poland. In a world of growing threats in cyberspace, we need a clear action plan that will strengthen the protection of the state, economy and citizens’ data.

The state wants to respond faster to network incidents. The ministry is planning development of education and training for citizens. The important point is development of Polish cloud solutions and secure communication systems. The government also focuses on cooperation with the European Union and NATO.

The changes will include appointments a new institution coordinating activities in the network. There will be an uprising too NASK Cybersecurity Center. Government offices and the military will receive better protection against DDoS attacks. New safety requirements will also appear in public procurement.

As we read in the announcement of the Ministry of Digitization, the activities provided for in the Cybersecurity Strategy include:

  • evolutionary establishment of a central institution coordinating cybersecurity at the national level based on the Joint Cybersecurity Operations Center (PCOC),
  • creation or development of sectoral computer security incident response teams (sectoral CSIRTs),
  • development of the S46 system (an IT system that supports the reporting and handling of incidents, information exchange and cooperation between participants of the national cybersecurity system),
  • further activities supporting cybersecurity in local governments,
  • creation of the NASK Cybersecurity Center,
  • actions to strengthen the state’s ability to combat cybercrime,
  • development of secure communication systems,
  • migration plan to post-quantum cryptography and development of national cryptography and quantum technologies,
  • development of cloud solutions for cybersecurity,
  • activities to increase the security of the supply chain and the development of domestic technologies and technological sovereignty,
  • introducing cybersecurity requirements for purchases under public procurement and instruments for quickly obtaining solutions in this area,
  • development and extension of central protection against DDoS attacks for public institutions, including the Polish Armed Forces,
  • development of training and educational activities in the field of cybersecurity for various social groups,
  • expanding international cooperation, in particular within the European Union and NATO, as well as in bilateral and multilateral formats.
