While fans are patiently waiting for the next part of the “The Hunt for Gollum” series directed by Andy Serkis, which is scheduled to appear in December 2027, producers are preparing thematic attractions for them. In connection with the 25th anniversary of the premiere of “The Lord of the Rings: The Fellowship of the Ring (2001), the entire trilogy returned to cinemas over the weekend. It was supposed to be a regular anniversary event scheduled for two weekends (January 16-18 and 23-25). However, this celebration is so popular that American chains could not keep up with ticket sales and had to immediately organize additional screenings.
On American cinema screens, you could see “The Fellowship of the Ring” on Friday, “The Two Towers” on Saturday, and “The Return of the King” on Sunday. The first of the presented films earned $3.85 million in the US, the second – $2.64 million, and the third – $2.5 million. The interest was so great that many cinema owners decided to add screenings on other days of the week or offer marathons of the entire trilogy.
