PlayStation 6 will debut later. Much later
PlayStation 5 debuted in November 2020. The standard life cycle of Sony consoles is approximately 7 years. This is how much time has passed between the premiere of PS4 and PS5 and PS3 and PS4.
Does this mean that we should expect PlayStation 6 next year? The answer would be yes if the market situation were normal. Unfortunately, this is not the case. That means a delay, and probably a very long delay.
When will the PlayStation 6 premiere?
Market analyst David Gibson from MST Financial predicts that players will wait much longer for the new generation of PlayStation. Not only because there is currently a crisis on the RAM market and releasing a new device would make absolutely no sense. Also because PlayStation 5 continues to perform well.
Gaming division continues to perform well in the third quarter: Sony’s third-quarter results are expected to exceed market expectations, driven by sales of both first-party and third-party games. Sony will likely extend the life cycle of the PS5, and the PS6 launch will likely be delayed more than many expected.
Additionally, it is worth mentioning the recent words of Lin Tao, Sony’s financial director. He stated that PlayStation 5 is only halfway through. These words were said last year, which suggests that we will wait until 2030 for the successor. Considering what is currently happening on the market, this seems very likely.
