Bank Pekao SA warns customers against a new fraud. Many people began to receive suspicious text messages in which cybercriminals inform about the expiration of the PeoPay mobile application and possible account blocking. The message contains a link that leads to a fake website designed to steal customer login details.
If we provide our login and password, criminals will gain access to our bank account and we will lose money.

Therefore, Bank Pekao SA once again reminds about the basic security principles that should be followed to minimize the risk of losing money. The most important of them are:
- Update the PeoPay application only through official application stores (Google Play and App Store).
- Don’t log in to Mobile Banking via links sent in text messages or emails.
- Don’t enter your full mobile banking password. In Pekao it is masked, so only certain characters need to be entered.
- Use two-factor authentication when logging in.
- Do not confirm transactions that you have not requested.
- If you have any doubts about the message you received, please contact the bank’s hotline at +48 519 222 222.
- Do not call back the phone number from which you received the text message.
