Nowość w mBanku. Nie zdziw się, gdy aplikacja Cię o to poprosi

New in mBank. Don't be surprised when the app asks you to do this

mBank has introduced a new transfer authorization method to its mobile application. For now, it works on Android devices, but it will also be available on iOS devices soon.

Easy access to a bank account and money via the Internet is also an “attraction” for criminals who want to enrich themselves at our expense. Data from the National Bank of Poland show that in the last quarter of 2023 9,392 frauds involving transfers, for a total amount of PLN 79 million. This is over 7% and over 33% more than in Q3 2023, respectively. Therefore, banks secure remote operations in various ways. It's no different at mBank for example at ordering transfers using the transaction website on the bank's website.

The easiest way to confirm a transfer ordered via online banking is using the mBank mobile application. This tool generates an appropriate message, after clicking on which we see information about the planned transaction. At the bottom of the information screen there are two buttons that allow you to confirm or reject the operation. Thanks to this, we do not have to copy any codes from an SMS or – as was the case in some banks years ago – from a scratch card with codes.

To confirm, present your card

As he informs cashless.plfor some transactions, mBank customers may be asked to… placing a payment card on the phone.

We are introducing further changes to the mobile authorization screen. In selected situations, we may ask you to present an active mBank card to your phone. We will do this when we have doubts whether someone unauthorized is using the application.

New security uses the NFC module, with which we can, among other things, pay contactlessly, for example for purchases. Importantly, such security is to be used only in the case of mBank customers who have a physical payment card of this bank.

We introduced this solution to improve payment security and increase customer convenience. This is an additional authorization option for customers who physically have a payment card. This option will appear when our system considers an operation suspicious. We will then ask the customer to additionally confirm it by tapping the card to the smartphone. If the customer does not have the card with him, we will offer him another method of additional authorization of the transaction. We are working on implementing a similar solution on iOS devices.
