Jumping jacks, i.e. he lost his mind because the electricity from renewable energy sources was not kosher

Why? There are a lot of arguments listed here. From the more credible ones to the ones that border on tinfoil hats. Let’s start with the first ones. Well, electricity from renewable energy sources would make the energy in the power grid unstable. This is because sometimes the clouds cover the sun on the panels, and sometimes the wind blows weaker, sometimes stronger, which causes voltage fluctuations.

A good lie often has a grain of truth in it. And that is also the case here. Yes, changing conditions affect the production of energy from renewable energy sources and cause fluctuations. The problem is that energy from photovoltaic panels or wind turbines does not go directly to the grid. First, it must pass through an inverter adapted to a specific energy source. This is a key element of the entire installation, which adjusts the current parameters to the mains current.

It ensures that the appropriate frequency and other parameters are maintained. However, its response time is counted in milliseconds. Therefore, the impact of renewable energy on electronics is practically zero. But what about too high or too low voltage? Well, the inverter simply turns off when the voltage is too high. If it is too low, then… it does not feed it into the network because the energy flows from a medium with a higher potential to a medium with a lower potential. Just as a stone with high potential energy can fall from a mountain, a stone with low potential energy cannot jump up a mountain.

Of course, if someone modifies their inverter to release more energy into the grid by increasing its voltage, they may actually pose a threat to their devices and those of their neighbors. However, this is a matter of illegal modification and not a defect of renewable energy sources. Moreover, such action will negatively affect sensitive electronics. However, a washing machine is mainly an electric motor, a water pump and a heater. These are elements that are really forgiving when it comes to parameters.

Now that we have the more credible lies about the harmfulness of renewable energy sources behind us, let’s move on to a deeper area. Well, energy produced using renewable energy sources generates electrons of lower quality, which was, of course, proven by American scientists, but this is not mentioned as part of the conspiracy. The generator in a wind turbine knows that it is ordinary wind that blows it, and not steam under enormous pressure that pushes it in a coal-fired power plant. Apparently, it is so outraged by this state of affairs that it generates electrons of lower quality.

If the above paragraph sounds like gibberish, then… you’re right. Well, an electron is an electron. There are no differences between them. However, even if the foliarists were right and we would actually get worse electrons, it still doesn’t matter. This is because we have alternating current in the network. In his case, electrons do not flow from the power plant to the socket. Instead, they push free electrons in the conductor. Once in one direction and once in the other direction. This is its alternation. The principle of operation is a bit like a yours-mine saw. Therefore, even if there were worse electrons, all they would do is push the better electrons.

There is an increasing push for renewable energy sources, heat pumps and other solutions that make us independent from fossil fuels. Paulina Hennig-Kloska, Minister of Climate and Environment, clearly indicates the source of these reports:

Every fake news about “washing machines breaking down due to renewable energy” is ammunition in the hybrid war that Minister Radosław Sikorski talked about. Russia is terrified of our energy independence, so it feeds people with fear. That is why we respond unequivocally to Russian disinformation. The stakes are high. We either choose modernity and security, or we remain on the short leash of fossil fuel exporters, including Russia. Russian disinformation is intended to stop Poland’s energy independence. We are responsible for the future. That is why we must systemically fight Russian disinformation.

Of course, it cannot be assumed that everyone who propounds the above theses is automatically an agent of a foreign power. Many people have simply been fooled and repeat the nonsense they have heard.

But why washing machines? Because these are susceptible to damage. Hard water, constant vibrations, large temperature ranges… all this negatively affects the life of the devices. There is also deliberate aging of products and unintentional ones, i.e. the use of lead-free solders, which are much less resistant to shocks. The users themselves are also to blame, as they load as many clothes into the drum as will fit, ignoring the weight limits.
