AMD is preparing a response to Arrow Lake Refresh. We will get a new CPU
AMD plans to refresh the family Ryzen 9000. Two new processors are to be added to the offer: Ryzen 7 9750X and Ryzen 5 9650X. There will be no changes here in terms of architecture and lithography, nor will we see 3D V-Cache memory. Instead, it was decided for a higher clock speed and TDP, which looks like a response to the Intel Core Ultra 200S Plus.
In terms of prices, the new processors should take the place of the old ones
The more powerful system, i.e. Ryzen 7 9750X, will offer 8 cores and 16 threads with clock speed from 4.2 up to 5.6 GHz. For comparison, the current Ryzen 7 9700X operates at a frequency of 3.80 – 5.50 GHz. However, the difference does not end with the clocks themselves. A new variant is expected to receive TDP at 120 Wwhich is a big jump from the current 65 W.
The second novelty will get 6 cores and 12 threads with timing from 4.3 to 5.5 GHz. For comparison, the current Ryzen 5 9600X starts at 3.90 GHz and ends at 5.40 GHz in Boost mode. Here too the TDP will be increased.
| Ryzen 5 9600X | Ryzen 5 9650X | Ryzen 7 9700X | Ryzen 7 9750X | |
| Cores and threads | 6/12 | 6/12 | 8/16 | 8/16 |
| Base clock | 3.9GHz | 4.3GHz | 3.8GHz | 4.2GHz |
| Boost clock | 5.4GHz | 5.5GHz | 5.5GHz | 5.6GHz |
| TDP | 65 W | 120 W | 65 W | 120 W |
| L3 memory | 32 MB | 32 MB | 32 MB | 32 MB |
| Architecture | Zen 5 | Zen 5 | Zen 5 | Zen 5 |
| Nest | AM5 | AM5 | AM5 | AM5 |
At the moment, there is no information on how this will translate into performance, but don’t expect miracles – just a few% at most. Also, the suggested prices are a secret, but it can be assumed that Ryzen 7 9700X and Ryzen 5 9600X will be discounted and replaced by new CPUs. Especially considering how aggressively Intel has priced the Arrow Lake Refresh family.
