A cheap smartwatch is not junk. It can even outlive the Apple Watch
Why overpay if it works?
Most of us look for a few basic functions in a watch. We want count steps, check your heart rate and get notifications from your phone. Apple Watch Series 11 Whether Samsung Galaxy Watch8 this is an expense of the order PLN 1,000–3,600. That’s a lot of money for a gadget that will be technologically outdated in three years anyway.
At the other extreme, we have brands such as Xiaomi Whether Redmi. Their products often cost a fraction of that amount (although there are exceptions). We often limit ourselves to a quota below PLN 500. The question is: will such cheap equipment fall apart after a few months? Practice shows something completely different.
5 years on one watch
There is no shortage of opinions on the Internet from people who they abandoned expensive brands in favor of budget ones. On forums like Reddit, users brag about their results. Many of them use Amazfit models for three or even five years. What’s more, their batteries still last two weeks on one charge.
Of course, there are cases where cheap equipment fails after a few months. However, these are often low-end “no-name” products. Proven budget brands focus on simplicity. Thanks to this, their devices they break down less oftenbecause they don’t have any complicated “flash and flow” features.
Where’s the catch?
The low price doesn’t come out of nowhere. When buying a cheap smartwatch, you have to take certain things into account compromises. The interface is rarely as smooth as in expensive models. The menu can sometimes “crunch” and the graphics are not that sharp.
Another issue is sensors. Cheap watches do a good job of counting steps, but their GPS or heart rate measurement may be less precise. Unless you’re training professionally for a marathon, you probably won’t even notice it. For the average user, such differences are marginal.
How to make a watch last for years?
Even cheap equipment will last a long time if you take care of it. The key is screen protection and battery care. Don’t let your watch run down to zero. Also, try not to leave it in direct sunlight while charging. High temperature is the biggest enemy of lithium-ion cells.
It’s also worth choosing models with replaceable straps. This is the most common element that wears out. A new strap for a few zlotys will make the watch look like new again. Also remember about software updates. They fix bugs and improve system stability.
